Hearts for Seniors - EHS Basketball Team Event

We're teaming up with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region to create a whopping 2200 Valentine's Day cards for seniors in our community. It's a casual and optional event, so whether you're part of Travyn's basketball team, a coach, a parent, or a sibling with a big heart, everyone is welcome! We'll provide all the materials you need – just bring your smiles and good vibes.

Why V-Day cards?

Imagine being alone and unable to leave your home, for days, weeks, and years on end. For too many older adults that is a sad reality. Many of our senior neighbors are frail, can’t drive, and aren’t even connected to the internet. They’ve outlived their spouses, their friends, siblings, and sadly sometimes even their children.

Their world has become small, so a friendly visit or phone call means so much to them, and when Meals on Wheels Diablo Region sends holiday cards, that too is special. When we deliver meals, we often find these cards from volunteers hanging on our senior’s refrigerator door, as if they came from a grandchild, loved one, or close friend.

To the vulnerable homebound seniors we serve, Valentine’s Day or other special holiday cards makes them smile, feel special, and brightens their day. They know that they are not forgotten and that someone is thinking of them. You are able to make lonely, isolated seniors fee seen when you take your time to make that special card.
